A soft drizzle.....

A scorching summer afternoon. I cringe at the sunshine and close the curtains. Soon after, I see the the light fade and watch the once penetrating sun rays eventually lull into mere faint radiant glow among the gloomy, heavy clouds.  The soft chill breeze caresses my cheek gently and ruffles my hair, as if to call me to join the dance of the swaying trees. I rise from my desk, in response to the call of the wind. My feet wander, following the voice of the wind. I take a deep breath of the fresh moist air and feel the earthy scent of the first monsoon shower. The gentle breeze stirs a leaf that has fallen on the pavement. I take a stroll through a dirt path enjoying the whiff of ripening mangoes and the lingering scent of freshness in the air. A rush of nostalgic memories swim in a sea of brimming thoughts. A truly blissful moment in solitude. That was nature unfolding in front of my moist eyes. My eyes follow the lush green leaves clinging onto the swaying trees in t...

Captured

Dawn had set in. The feathery clouds, as if with no burden, floated gently over the vast blue meadow. The robins sang their old sweet song, a feast to the ears. The stream, as usual, broke into peals of laughter while quenching the thirst of the pale lilies and daffodils. The soft yet warm sunshine hit the eyelashes of young Richard, relieving him from a deep slumber. He stretched, twisted and yawned, only to be greeted by his tiny mates, the robins. He whispered gently into their ears in hushed tones, some sort of delicate secret that does not wish to be disclosed. Richard, probably a young lad of thirteen, was an extremely introverted teen who enjoyed the company of the soft darkness he had created around himself. He had silky brown hair that loosely fell over his forehead. The freckles on his face seemed to reveal his nature - secretive yet noticeable. He had brown  dreamy eyes that had an unknown end in its depth, unlike his parents' bright blue eyes. He lived in Sta...

I'm not a stereotype!

"Oh, that one over there seems dark; should be a Madrasi." "Look, these Nigerian apes are here too! Thugs they are..," "Don't cry like a girl, boys aren't meant to cry!" "Why is he in the kitchen? He isn't supposed to do the chores!" You might have noticed what is common in these statements. You're right. Stereotypes. Stereotypes can be a part of daily life, no matter who you are. It can affect how you share ideas, communicate and think about yourself. From a classroom to a delegate meeting, stereotypes can be everywhere! Sometimes, people consciously or indirectly label another person through prejudice. Judging another person without knowing them personally. Labeling is absolutely unacceptable. Every person is diverse and unique in their own way. Racism isn't new to us. Branding a person regardless of their character can reflect how you perceive people and your racism. Even if we don't mean it, we...

How Solitude happened - my story

Hey there! I wanna share some really good news - my first book is out! It feels inspiring reaching a wider audience, seeing the positive response and every time I get to know about another reader, I can feel a flurry of excitement at the pit of my stomach.  This book is a collection of thoughts and creative juices that flowed freely to sculpt itself and take shape into a book I never even imagined of. Every story revolves around a protagonist. The book speaks about how these three people, from different walks of life, meet the same crisis - in quest of greener grass, of their legend, the answer to their longing questions. They are three distinct beads of human life, all clinging onto the thread of, well, find out what.   As I've mentioned earlier, no matter what we do or achieve, our first-times always hold a special place in our heart. It has been just as special and emotional as it is. This has been a truly exciting and brain-racking journey as for a writer, t...

Love is in the air.....

Love has been eternal always. From gifting a bouquet or diamonds to a small act of kindness, love is in the air. No matter how much cruelty has seeded itself in a person, love peeks out in some form through one's actions and intentions. Love is the core feeling that radiates through every particle of your soul. A smile is the only most precious and valued ornament that won't cost you a penny. It makes you look beautiful. Why not wear it everyday?  A smile and a kind act is all that you need to show your love to the world and capture hearts wherever you go. When you have a weapon that can transform a scowl into a beautiful grin, why not make use of it? Unfortunately, most don't. Why not initiate a beautiful revolution with something as simple as a smile? Make someone's day bright with a warm smile of yours and see how good it makes you feel. So simple, right? Today is the celebration of love and kindness to spread and sprinkle everywhere you go. Don't...

House of Cards

Her eyes welled up with tears. There seemed to be no effort put in to control them as they flowed freely down her cheeks. It was the last time she was going to see her parents and siblings. The Ambassador chugged off, with her gaze locked into her parents' eyes through a blur of tears. Saanvi, a cheerful young woman in her early twenties, was heartbroken. The suddenly-brought up topic of marriage had crushed her ambitious dreams. Being the first and only literate person in her huge family of sixteen, it was hard for her to persuade them even for higher studies. Her demand had been answered by a cold, stony silence. The sight of her father repenting over his decision of granting education to his daughter and the loud wails of her mother weeping on the telephone to her aunt annoyed her. After a series of heated arguments, she made up her mind and left for the University of Delhi to pursue her dream of entrepreneurship. The months she spent at her university were the happ...

Turning Terrific Twelve!

Hi guys! I have crossed yet another milestone! Today, I'm turning twelve! From the time I was in my mother's womb till this very moment, these twelve years have been absolutely exciting and adventurous. The experiences I've had have taught me life's greatest lessons that will always be in my pocket throughout my journey. Turning twelve is often viewed as one of the biggest milestones in a person's life (stepping into tweenhood and much closer to teenage) as it is the last birthday one celebrates as a child and also the first one feeling like a tiny adult! Though I like thinking and planning ahead like an adult would, I still feel, learn and create with the heart of a nine-year-old perhaps. The innocence and creativity of a kid is always greater than the arrogant know-it-all attitude of a teen or adult. I definitely do feel much more matured by thought and response today. I have evolved as a person. Hitting twelve, I suddenly feel so grown up (alm...
